Meet some of my battle buddies. I declare that these guys are the best guys ever. Even though it was tough being over there, these guys made it fun as much as possible. The guy with the cigarette is Sgt. Powell. He was not typical Army at all. He was kind of a rebel, but he knew more about what was going on then anyone. He was a former tanker and knew tank tactics very well. Behind him is Porterfield. I don't remember his first name, but I always enjoyed him around because he was so funny. To the right is Steve Henley. We use to play practical jokes on each other. I would put small holes in his water bottle. Steve one time put boot polish on a set of binoculars and made me look for a phantom tank. It put rings around my eyes and everyone was laughing. I got him back a few days later. I put diesel soot on the eye piece of our thermal sight. The eyepiece is about 4 or 5 inches across. Needless to say when he went up to do a daily adjustment on the gun system he had to adjust the thermal site. The whole side of his face was black from the soot. We were rolling in the sand. He asked what was so funny and Sgt. Powell gave him a mirror. I taught him easily that paybacks are hell. We must of laughed for days after that one.
